At its March 6, 2025 meeting, the Palm Beach Gardens City Council will discuss Resolution 18 which supports the extension of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road based on the adopted alignment shown in the 2040, 2045, and 2050 Long Range Transportation Plans of the Palm Beach County Transportation Planning Agency (PBC TPA). These adopted plans depict the alignment of the Seminole Pratt Whitney Road Extension running east along 100th Lane, North, then north along the eastern boundary of the Mecca Farms parcel, then running northeast on the southeast side of the C- 18 canal to connect with the Coconut Boulevard Extension immediately south of the CSX railroad crossing.
On December 10, 2024, Palm Beach County staff presented to the IBIS Homeowners Association a previously undisclosed and alternative alignment of the Seminole Pratt Whitney Road Extension, which is proposed to extend east along 100th Lane, North to connect with Avenir Drive. The proposed alternative alignment of the Seminole Pratt Whitney Road Extension would direct thousands of vehicle trips along Seminole Pratt Whitney Road onto Avenir Drive, through the heart of a quiet community on a two-lane, 56-foot neighborhood road, which will precipitate traffic congestion, conflict with low -speed vehicles, and endanger pedestrians.
Resolution 18 profoundly opposes the construction of the alternative alignment of the Seminole Pratt Whitney Road Extension and strongly encourages the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners to direct the County Administrator to construct the extension in accordance with the 2040, 2045, and 2050 PBC TPA Long Range Transportation Plans.
