In 2007, Javier Garcia decided to pursue a career in law enforcement and was hired as a police officer trainee with our department after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology & Psychology from Florida State University. In 2008, he graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at Palm Beach State College and since then, has steadfastly worked his way up the ranks.
During his 17+ years of law enforcement he has assumed various roles and responsibilities. He served on the SWAT team and in 2013 was assigned to the Tactical Diversion Squad as a Task Force Officer with the Drug Enforcement Administration, combating prescription medication trafficking and money laundering on a federal level.
He returned to road patrol and subsequently became a Field Training Officer until his promotion to Police Sergeant in 2015. Four years later, he became the Field Training Officer Coordinator and excelled in that role until October of 2019 when he was promoted to Police Captain. He ably served in this capacity for the next 4 ½ years, while also earning a master’s degree in public administration in 2021. Major Garcia is now overseeing administration, including recruitment, promotional processes, and administrative support.
