Streets and Stormwater

The mission of the Streets and Stormwater Division is to focus on maintaining and enhancing community infrastructure and public spaces. Key priorities include canal and waterway maintenance, regular catch basin inspections, and the removal of graffiti to ensure a clean and safe environment. Efforts also extend to mosquito control, street sweeping, and the upkeep of street signs to promote public health and safety. Additionally, tree trimming and median landscape management contribute to the area's aesthetic appeal, while ongoing maintenance of stormwater infrastructure supports effective water management and environmental protection.

Stormwater Infrastructure Mapping and Inspection Analysis

The program focuses on:
• Identifying areas in need of immediate repair
• Establishing long-term maintenance procedures
• Ensuring compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements

Regular cleaning, inspection, evaluation, and repair of stormwater pipelines are essential to ensure proper runoff and discharge into canal systems, as required by the Clean Water Act. These activities help prevent sediment buildup, reduce flooding risks, and maintain clear stormwater flow from roadways and swales.

Long-Term Impact

The conditions assessment and maintenance plan will:
• Prioritize repairs for aging stormwater pipe systems
• Establish guidelines for a more comprehensive, proactive maintenance program
